About Me

My name is Nicholas Zoppa. I am the dart frog keeper behind Tinc Tank. Coming from a life-long passion of wildlife, dart frogs caught my eye as a small child. Growing up, I spent lots of time in the outdoors wandering through the woods in my family's backyard and the pond on the neighbors' property catching all sorts of critters like toads, butterflies, and turtles. Then one day I ended up at a pet store and saw a dart frog in front of me for the first time. In a tiny little glass tank was a blue poison dart frog, a bumblebee dart frog, and a green and black dart frog. I was instantly obsessed. Ever since then I have spent all my free time reading about the husbandry of these jewels of the rainforest and the best practices of the dart frog hobby. This passion lead me to graduate from The Ohio State University with a degree in Animal Science. Now my day job is working in a laboratory doing research on treatments for children with muscular dystrophy.

With a particular interest in the hobby's favorite blue dart frog, Azureus, I now focus on maintaining many lines of different localities of Dendrobates tinctorius. I hope by sharing my passion for these frogs with others we can create a stable future for these animals in captivity whereas in their native countries the people care little for the environment or their wildlife.
